Quantum of Solace… Eh
Thursday night I went to see the first showing of the new Bond film, Quantum of Solace, at midnight with two of my college friends (obviously disregarding the 1,200 word German essay I had due Friday). I had really high hopes going into the movie, but honestly I have to say I was a little disappointed. The camera work was really bad – almost every action scene had shots that cut so fast you could hardly tell what was happening, it was almost nauseating.
The movie opens with basically 20 minutes of straight action scenes, including some extremely improbable situations, but hey that’s James Bond. At the start of the movie Daniel Craig is in a high speed chase in the Aston Martin DBS, and damn that scene itself makes me want that car sooo bad.
After that the movie kinda just skips from action scene to action scene with little plot thrown in the middle. Honestly I had a hard time following the story, and I didn’t really see how it related to Casino Royale, but then again I haven’t seen Casino Royale since that was in theaters.
Overall I’m glad I saw the movie because I’m a huge James Bond fan, but I thought it was disappointing after how amazing the last one was. I’d still recommend seeing it, but I won’t be going back to watch it again.
