I've got my hat on straight

Lol @ Domainers

Mini rant here…

I’m trying to acquire some domains today, and made an offer to some guy that owns a domain I was after. I was inquiring about the .com version of the exact match term. Mind you, the .org version just sold for $100 (an absolute steal actually). I was prepared to pay $1,000-$2,000 for the domain.

After asking the guy if he was interested in selling, he told me “how lucky I was because today he’s actually interested in selling and will let it go for $52,000!”

What is with these people? The domain is worth nowhere near $52,000, not even a tenth of that. After I asked him to justify the price, and made my case for why it was not worth anything near that, he replied with:

“I knew I shouldn’t have responded. These emails are all a waste of my time.”

What?! Something is seriously wrong with these people when they have good domains on hand, don’t develop them, and don’t show the slightest interest in selling them for market price either.

  1. I just went through the same thing with a domain guy. The domain I was after is easily worth a ton of money, but the guy has one page up and nothing else.

My question is: if the domain is worth 250,000, why the f**K don’t they do anything with it?

  2. God, I’m going through this right now – the guy wants $35,000 for a domain I’m seriously prepared to pay $5,000 for.

This would be my biggest domain investment ever, but the “potential” just has him hanging onto this domain for 8 years now – potential? Do something with it then!
