Obama for College Football Playoffs? Hell Yeah

Although I cast my vote for Bob Barr, and would have rather seen John McCain win the election, I gotta say I’m psyched after hearing Obama say he’s going to “throw his weight around” to get a playoff for college football. Can you imagine how sick it would be to have the top 8 teams go into a playoff? Although I doubt it will happen even in the distant future, this is what it would look like right now:

#1 Alabama vs. #8 Penn State

#2 Texas Tech vs. #7 Utah (HA!)

#3 Texas vs. #6 USC

#4 Florida vs. #5 Oklahoma

Minus the TTU vs Utah game which I think would be a rout, it would be amazing to see all these games and to have a “true” national champion.

Although I imagine 99% of fans would love to see the playoff system, and I hate to admit it, the BCS has brought in a shitload of money to college football programs, and has made the regular season really exciting because every game truly counts (*cough* PSU vs. Iowa *cough*). I think a playoff system would be 10x more exciting though…

Penn State Goes Down… :(

For those of you who follow college football, I’m sure you saw that my team, PSU, went down this weekend on the road at Iowa to a last second field goal from the backup kicker. At the time of that field goal, I was at a tailgate in WVU watching the game on a tv that belonged to a bunch of old dude’s who graduated from Iowa. These guys were such cocky a$$holes, I was praying for a miss so I could rub it in their face. After Iowa won they had the class to throw an open beer at my buddy and try to fight us…

I’m so sad over this because I was just about to get tickets to the National Championship game and spend a week down in Miami with some friends. Also, after last year’s debacle of a football team I was so excited for these guys (Daryll Clark, D-Will, Deon Butler, etc) who busted their ass and wanted to prove the Big 10 is a real conference. Such a tough loss, it really hurts.

Now it looks like we’ll end up in the Rose Bowl against USC or Oregon State (who we handily beat at home earlier in the year). The Rose Bowl is on New Year’s day in Cali, so I probably won’t head out as none of my friends want to go. However, this means I can go to the Bahamas for the PCA w/ a few of my friends from home instead, which should be a really sick trip.

Anyways, just had to get that off my chest. I’ll get some affiliate related stuff up when I get a chance this week.
