Last week I went to Puerto Rico with my family for a vacation. We haven’t done anything like that in probably five years, and I had a really great time. A couple cool things from the trip:

Snorkeling

One day we went out on a Catamaran boat (which is basically just a huge sail boat) for a day trip. They took us to an island where we practiced snorkeling in shallow waters and had lunch, then we went to a reef area to snorkel in rougher waters where we could see all the cool fish and the coral reef. Here’s a pic from the first island we were at:

I’ve also got a ton of underwater pics of fish, but I gotta get them developed before I can upload them. Here’s the boat we were on:

The whole thing was a great deal actually, it was like $70 per person which included a buffet lunch and all you could drink rum plus the snorkeling equipment. I’d definitely recommend doing one of these day trips if you have the chance.

The Jungle

One day we went to the El Yungue jungle and it was pretty amazing. Here’s a pic of a waterfall we saw:

This waterfall is on the finalists list for the seven natural wonders of the world. You can see me in the bottom left of the picture so you can get a sense of how big it really is. We also walked on a trail through the jungle for like an hour and saw a total of one small bird lol, I was hoping to see some crazy animals but no luck.

Greg Norman Course

The last day I was there my Dad and I played Greg Norman’s course which was one of the courses at our resort. The scenery on the course was really amazing, but the greens and fairways were so dried out that the course played pretty tough. Here’s a pic of me (probably) sinking a putt:

There were iguanas all over the course along with a bunch of turtles and birds, it was pretty cool. Even though I played awful as usual (probably shot at least 110, didn’t even keep track at the end) it was a great time. My sole mission next summer is to become a solid golfer – I’m taking lessons every week, playing every day, whatever it takes lol.

This weekend I’m off to Niagara Falls again for the gaming conference up there. I’m bringing a few of my own friends up and hanging out with some old friends like JeremyM, JohnH, JohnG, and Graham, and also meeting some new people like Kevin. Should be a great weekend.
